ALI RAHBAR
Ali Rahbar was born in Tehran, Iran on February 3, 1967.
Rahbar started his career as a young photojournalist with IRNA news service and extensively covered the Iran – Iraq War. For his art Rahbar draws from his experience with photojournalism and uses photography as a preferred medium. He has exhibited his works at group shows of Iranian photography at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in 1989, 1992, 1994, 2000, 2004 and 2008 and were the subject of a solo exhibition at Vahdat Museum in 1990.
Rahbar has produced and curated several shows of Contemporary Iranian Art including an exhibition of Contemporary Iranian Art in 1994 at the Maison de l’Iran in Paris, the first comprehensive group show of its kind in Europe.
Rahbar was the Publisher of Envoy Magazine from 1996 until 1998, a member of the Directory Board of the second Biennial of Iranian Photography and the Director of the National Iranian Athletics Organisations art and photography program from 1991 to 1994.
