Mahmoud Kalari is an internationally renowned photographer, film maker, cinematographer and art director. Apart from directing his own films, Kalari has collaborated with cinematic masters such as Abbas Kiarostami and Mohsen Makhmalbaf.
Among other accolades, Kalari was awarded the first prize at both the Mar del Plata Film Festival and the Fajr Film Festival and will be featured as part of a public exhibition at New York’s Lincoln Center.
Mahmoud Kalari uses his camera to capture the fine nuances of human stories and social dramas. His two series, The Miners and The Women of the Profession, depict the essence of the life story of each subject, especially within the framework of societies in the Middle East.
Breaking the Mould, a joint project with Ali Rahbar, is a visual analysis of the implications and ramifications of social assimilation.
